China's economic growth to adopt more scientific approach

China's economic growth has been fast and steady for decades. To maintain that growth, the National Development and Reform Commission says China's economic development will take a more scientific approach that gives more attention to social welfare. Feng Jinchao has the details.
Zhu Zhixin says the scientific outlook on development has been the guideline for the country's economic development since the 16th Party Congress five years ago. Such development is more comprehensive, harmonious and sustainable.
Between 2003 to 2006, China's national economy maintained an average growth rate of 10.4 percent annually which was far higher than a world average at 4.9 percent during the same period of time. This was one of the best time's rapid economic growth, study economic performance and economic efficiency since the founding of the new China. We also made new progressing we form opening up, structural adjustment, energy conservation, reduction of emissions, any environmental protection.
Building a harmonious society has been set as an urgent strategic goal for the country. The government has put more attention to the issues concerning people's livelihood, such as employment, social security and increase of salaries. But problems are inevitable.
This round of pricing increases in China has been mainly driven by prices agriculture, specially the food, considering the cycle of agriculture production, we estimate the prices in china will run high for quiet sometime, but we will not expect to see prices rise by a wide margin for a considerably long time.
Zhu emphasized that the government will make economic policies in accordance with the scientific outlook to maintain the stability of the market and the whole society, including narrowing the gap between rich and poor.
Few doubt China's economy will continue to grow at a rapid pace. But the Communist Party insists the scientific outlook on development must be implemented so the economic growth will be sustainable, and more ordinary Chinese will benefit from that development.
