翻译原文:
The mean streets of Britain are seeing the emergence of gang members of primary school age who are prepared to fight, rob, deal drugs and even kill to uphold the reputation of their "crews".
Crime experts and police have revealed that many of the several hundred gangs spread across the country have started to recruit members aged from 10 to 12 for the first time. The role of these "tinies" or "babies" is to back up the gang leaders and give their respective "crews" strength in numbers.
On Friday, an Old Bailey jury found five gang members guilty of killing a father who was stoned to death while playing cricket with his son. The youngest killer was aged 10 at the time that Ernest Norton, 67, was set upon in Bexley, Kent. The gang of "hoodies" abused him, spat at him and threw rocks at his head.
Scotland Yard was yesterday investigating the murder of Gerrard Barry, 17, who was stabbed to death in Newham, east London, on Thursday. Three "hoodies" were spotted leaving the scene.
In general, gang leaders, known as "olders", are aged from 17 to their early 20s. The "youngers" or "youngas" tend to be aged from 13 to 16 and aspire to "graduate" to the hierarchy of their gang.
