US delegation to arrive in South Korea

A US government delegation has arrived in South Korea en route to Pyongyang. Monday's arrival in Seoul comes ahead of this week's trip to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to survey nuclear facilities set to be disabled.

S.Korea deputy nuclear negotiator, Lim Sung-Nam said, "The purpose of the delegation's visit to the DPRK is not to negotiate, but to collect standpoints on the scale and methods of disabling the nuclear facilities after inspecting the sites."

The five-day trip starting Tuesday is the first step to follow through on the DPRK's recent agreement with the US to disclose and disable all its nuclear facilities by the end of the year. The US officials are expected to join a team of nuclear experts from China and Russia who plan to fly to Pyongyang for their joint survey.

They are scheduled to visit a five-megawatt reactor, a nuclear fuel fabrication plant and a reprocessing plant in the Yongbyon nuclear complex.
